Relationship Hero is a counseling site and app operating out of the U.S and serving clients all over the world. As the name suggests, the focus there is entirely upon relationship issues – but that doesn’t only include romantic ones. If you are experiencing difficulties in the workplace, or with people in your social circle for example, Relationship Hero can help with those as well.
In this Relationship Hero review you will get a better idea of how this platform works, how much it costs, and how you can get the most out of it. You’ll learn in which parts it excels, and find out if this is a service which can benefit you or not. Most importantly, we’ll try our best to compare the site directly with Regain – Their main competitors and what we personally consider to be the best relationship therapy site currently.

Signing up to Relationship Hero is simple, but actually takes a bit longer than most other sites. We like how thorough their questionnaire is, and the fact you get immediately matched to a potential coach and start an intro session is amazing. If you happen to feel very emotional about something that happened in your relationship, and looking for immediate relief, Relationship Hero is the best place to go to.
When you sign up, you’ll only need to provide very few personal details. The site encourages you to provide your phone number, but it’s not mandatory. You can just put in your email address, select a nickname, and remain 100% anonymous. Of course, you’ll need to provide some more details when you pay, but your coach won’t have access to those.
Once the signup process is complete (takes just a few minutes), you’ll be immediately redirected to a private chat room with your potential coach. This coach is automatically selected by their system based on availability and the answers you gave to the questionnaire. The coaches are always extremely responsive and their questions were on point – mentioning specific details we gave earlier and genuinely interested in finding the best way to help us.
At this point, you can chat with your coach for as long as you want, and can ask to continue this chat at a later time. At no point whatsoever did we feel any pressure for them to pay and begin the actual counseling. If you are not happy with your automatic match, just ask to pick your own counselor instead – you can easily view all therapist profiles, which show a short bio and reviews from other clients.
After all your questions are answered and you feel ready to begin, you and your coach will first have a 10 minutes long introduction session. This is when you’ll discuss the specific issues you are hoping to deal with, and work together on setting up goals and long term strategy for personal growth. As with all sessions on the site, it can be conducted by either video or phone call.
As you can read below in the pricing section, there are multiple subscription plans to choose from. Which one you choose will determine how often you and your coach meet, but Relationship Hero also offers you much more flexibility than most other therapy sites do.
First of all, you don’t have to subscribe at all. You can simply purchase “coaching credits” and spend them as you deem fit. This feature is quite overpriced, but since it’s optional there’s really no downside to it. The “Guru” package costs $268.5 and you get 180 credits in return – an hour-long therapy session costs 180 credits, but you can also divide these into shorter sessions if you prefer that. The “Hero” package costs $433.50 for 360 credits instead.
It’s also worth mentioning that even before you pick a plan and pay, you get immediate access to the site’s training videos (called “Master Classes”) and E-Books. These become free once you subscribe to a plan, but even before you do you can still review them and even purchase the ones you like the most by buying either the Guru or Hero bundles and then using some of the credits on these products instead.
As with all couples therapy sites, Relationship Hero also offers the option for couples therapy. Only one person has to sign up and pay. Just tell your coach you want your partner to participate (either in a single session or throughout the whole process) and they’ll provide an invitation link you can share with your partner. Your partner will then join the private chat room and will be able to participate in video sessions as well.
With that in mind, one huge advantage Relationship Hero has over Regain and other relationship counseling websites is they support 3-way live sessions. When using Regain, you and your partner have to physically be in the same room during sessions, while Relationship Hero’s software allows multiple participants to attend.
Lastly, Relationship Hero also offers group coaching. There’s a link in the menu to a page where you can see all upcoming sessions, their price in credits and the coach who will lead them. Generally speaking, group sessions cost half of what 1 on 1 sessions do. They are also an hour long, and limited to 12 participants each.
As mentioned above, the whole pricing system revolves around credits. 180 credits are worth an hour of counseling, and you can spend these any way you like. These credits never expire, and if you go for a subscription plan they will rollover to the next month if you left some unused.
On top of these, there’s also a subscription plan for 4 weekly sessions (2880 credits) which costs $281.25 a week. You get all other benefits and perks which are included in the other plans as well.
All subscription plans can be cancelled at any time and it’s very easy to do so. Keep in mind though, that these plans are set to auto renew each month – so if you no longer plan to use the site please make sure to first cancel them and deactivate your account. Relationship Hero also offers its clients an automatic refund with “no questions asked” for the first 90 credits they spent.
This actually proved to be the most contentious point among our team, and we went back and forth on how we want to evaluate and rate it. Even though there are clear disadvantages to what Relationship Hero offers, our overall experience with the site has been fantastic, and so are the user reviews and feedback we gathered all over the web.
So, instead of our usual approach of describing this part of the service and providing our expert verdict on it, we’ll instead try and present the facts and let you judge for yourself:
Considering the fact Relationship Hero costs more than its competitors, that does leave us a bit uneasy. They continuously mention their “world class coaching training system” but provide no details whatsoever as to what this program actually entails.
Combined with the fact these coaches are only paid $15 an hour, we were very skeptical of the quality of treatment we would receive. However, as mentioned, the level of professionalism and care displayed by coaches was actually incredible.
Relationship Hero has a lot of great things going for it, and we were actually very surprised by the quality of treatment and the help we were able to receive. That said, we still think Regain is overall the better choice for most - you pay less and receive counseling from licensed therapists instead.
Yes, it absolutely is. The company is licensed in the U.S and follows all relevant telehealth regulation and data protection protocols.
Relationship Hero currently does not work with any insurance provider.
Payments are available through credit card and Paypal.
It only takes a few seconds before you can start chatting with them and see if it’s a good match or not.
When it comes to assessing how good Relationship Hero is, the bottom line really does matter more than anything else.
Sure, the platform has some clear disadvantages, especially when compared to its main competitors, but ultimately what truly matters is the high level of professionalism and care they provide. As this Relationship Hero repeatedly demonstrated, the platform is a great place to get help and emotional support.
While we can’t objectively say Relationship Hero is better than Regain for couples or relationship counseling, we do like it a lot and feel it does fill some gaps which Regain does not address very well. True, Regain is cheaper and has many more therapists to choose from, but Relationship Hero has a lot going for it as well.
Specifically, we believe Relationship Hero is the better choice for couples who want to have sessions together but can’t share the same location. On top of that, Relationship Hero is a much more beginner friendly platform – unlike Regain, you don’t have to immediately pay, it’s much easier to browse profiles and choose your counselor, and the whole experience just feels much friendlier and more comfortable.
